TFEX to extend trading hours for USD Futures and list additional quarterly contract month of Silver Online Futures

Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX) will extend trading hours for its USD Futures until midnight, starting from September 27, 2021. Meanwhile, Silver Online Futures will be adjusted by listing two nearest quarterly contract month, starting from September 29, 2021. The moves are aimed at better facilitate investors in terms of trading and risk management.

TFEX Managing Director Rinjai Chakornpipat said that TFEX plans to add a night session for trading USD Futures, starting from 18.50-23.55 hrs. (The regular trading hours of USD Futures starts from 9.45-16.55 hrs.) This should allow investors to trade and manage their foreign exchange risk more conveniently.

USD Futures have shown significant growth over the past two years due to currency fluctuation. The USD Futures trading volume averaged 12,606 contracts a day (as of August 2021), a 357 percent surge from 2019.

Furthermore, TFEX will add Silver Online Futures' new quarterly contract month, making two nearest quarterly contract months available (currently, there is only one nearest quarterly contract month). To facilitate spread trading, the clearing house will allow for the inter-month spread margin of Silver Online Futures as well.

On September 29, 2021, SVFH22 contract series with expiration date in March 2022 will be available, in addition to SVFZ21 which is due to expire in December 2021.
