Bozankaya and its consortium partners Siemens Mobility and ST Engineering Urban Solutions [Thailand] Ltd. have signed a new agreement to produce 53 metro trains for Bangkok, Thailand's capital, and install technical equipment for signaling and maintenance service. The latest project marks another significant milestone in Bozankaya's successful partnership with Siemens Mobility in Thailand, following the export of 88 metro trains in 2018.
The agreement includes delivering rolling stock, signaling systems, communications, platform screen doors, and passenger information systems for an integrated and high-functioning transport solution. The new trains are designed with cutting-edge modern technology, spacious interiors, and improved information systems for passenger comfort.
From Ankara to Bangkok, a road to green innovation and success
The Blue Line or MRT Chaloem Ratchamongkon Line will have 21 train sets, with 3 wagons each. The Blue Line is Bangkok's third rapid transit line, following Sukhumvit Line and Silom Line. The first deliveries are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with the project expected to be completed by 2028. The scope of the agreement also includes comprehensive services such as 15 years of maintenance, signaling, and communication systems. Various stages of the agreement will begin in 2024 and conclude in 2039.
In the newly established consortium with Siemens Mobility and ST Engineering Urban Solutions [Thailand] Ltd., Bozankaya will produce 53 metro trains at its state-of-the-art facility in Ankara. Of these, 32 metro trains will operate on Bangkok's Orange Line, and 21 will serve the Blue Line. The Orange Line, a rapid transit line of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) with plans to cover 35.9 km and have 29 stations, will feature 32 train sets, each consisting of 3 wagons.
Commenting on the Bangkok project, Bozankaya Chairman of the Board, Aytunc Guenay, said: "Our project in Bangkok further strengthens Bozankaya's position in the global rail systems market.
