Same-sex couples in Thailand have a chance of winning a dream honeymoon worth up to 350,000 THB, thanks to a new competition launched by digital travel platform Agoda. The #AgodaLoveWins competition is designed to celebrate the upcoming enactment of marriage equality in Thailand.
The #AgodaLoveWins competition invites same-sex couples to share their love stories and dream honeymoon destinations for a chance to win a holiday voucher worth up to 350,000 THB. To participate, couples simply share a photo or video of themselves along with a description of how they fell in love and their dream honeymoon destination. Entries can be posted on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok, tagging Agoda and using the hashtag #AgodaLoveWins.
Pitichoke Chulapamornsri, Senior Director at Agoda said: "At Agoda, we celebrate love in all its beautiful forms. We are proud to support the LGBTQIA+ community through initiatives such as becoming the Official Online Travel Partner of Bangkok Pride, and this #AgodaLoveWins competition. This is our way of helping same-sex couples in Thailand begin a new chapter filled with joy and unforgettable memories. We look forward to witnessing the inspiring stories and dream destinations shared by this incredible community."
To participate, couples must be part of a same-sex relationship, hold Thai nationality, and obtain their marriage license by 31 January 2025. The winning couple will have the opportunity to enjoy their honeymoon before 26 May 2025, choosing from Agoda's extensive offerings of over 4.5 million holiday properties, more than 130,000 flight routes, and over 300,000 activities.
Agoda's #AgodaLoveWins competition is a testament to its commitment to inclusivity and support for the LGBTQIA+ community. For more details on how to participate, visit Agoda's competition page.
Agoda launched the competition after commissioning a study which revealed that Thailand's landmark marriage equality legislation is set to deliver an additional 4 million international visitors per year and increase tourism revenues by nearly USD2 billion annually - within two years after it is enacted.
The Economic Impact of Marriage Equality on Thailand's Tourism Industry study measured the projected economic opportunity presented by Thailand's move to adopt marriage equality from 23 January 2025. As the first jurisdiction in Southeast Asia to legalize same-sex marriage, and Asia's third after Taiwan in 2019 and Nepal last year, the initiative positions Thailand to capture a larger slice of the global rainbow tourism market, valued at over USD 200 billion annually.
