Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya PCL) has joined forces with Thai Honda Company Limited to advance the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem (EV Ecosystem) in Thailand. The collaboration focuses on Krungsri's adoption of alternative energy motorcycles (EV BIKE) in its operations, as well as promoting awareness and providing hands-on EV BIKE experience. This partnership underscores the shared commitment of both companies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and steer Thai society towards a sustainable future by achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
Mr. Pairote Cheunkrut, Krungsri Chief Strategy Officer said "Krungsri, as a responsible financial institution that takes into account social and environmental footprint, committed to helping solve the global issue of climate change. Our partnership with Thai Honda is a significant step in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from our operational processes as we continue to work towards our target of reducing carbon dioxide emissions across our business by 2030. Simultaneously, this collaboration will strengthen Thailand's electric vehicle ecosystem. We believe this collaboration will help both companies advance our shared environmental objectives, while also extending opportunities for the Thais to embrace innovative alternative energy vehicles. In turn, this will also boost Thailand's EV BIKE market, propelling the country towards a sustainable electric vehicle ecosystem and actively bolstering Thailand's transition towards a low-carbon economy society."
Mr. Shiketo Kimura, President of Thai Honda Company Limited, said of the cooperation that "Thai Honda has been developing an EV ecosystem in conjunction with leading partners in both the public and private sectors. We are glad to have joined hands with Krungsri, our new partner and a leading financial institution whose business operations prioritize environmental and social responsibility. Because Thai Honda and Krungsri share the sense of commitment to reducing carbon emissions for a sustainable society, EV bikes have been developed and are now being put to use in internal operations as a starting point from which to build a new EV ecosystem in Thailand."
As part of this collaboration, Krungsri has rented Honda BENLY e:, an electric motorcycle, for document delivery at the Bank's head office and its branches. The Honda BENLY e: is equipped with innovative battery swapping technology (SWAP) and has a top speed of 60 kilometres per hour and a 78-kilometre range per charge.
