Huawei, NCSA, and DSD launch Cloud Security Training Course to strengthening Cloud Cybersecurity in Thailand with "Cloud Security First" strategy

Edison Xu, Board Director of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., gave an opening remark that: "Huawei recognizes the importance of cloud security in Thailand and increasing demands for cloud security workforce. We aim to cultivate 10,000 cloud professionals in the country by 2024, to help strengthen Thailand's cloud security standard and protect the country's cyber information systems. The collaboration will help train and develop cybersecurity workforce and help create new value for the public sector. Additionally, it will increase knowledge and understanding of cloud security and raise public awareness about data protection, which will ultimately supporting the development of Thailand's digital economy."

He also added that the launch of 'Cloud Security Training Course 2024' project will reinforce the importance of cybersecurity and data breach prevention. The program will enhance cloud security skills with lecturers from leading universities in Thailand who have been specially trained by Huawei, in collaboration with National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), and Department of Skill Development, to effectively cultivate cybersecurity skills for Thai digital workforce.

Air Vice Marshal Amorn Chomchoey, Secretary-General, National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), explained about this strategic collaboration: "This initiative aims to produce and develop digital workforce, as well as increase cloud cybersecurity knowledge in Thailand in accordance to 'Cloud Security First' strategy which is one of the NCSA's priority tasks. The result is a strategic collaboration between public and private partners such as Huawei and the Department of Skill Development. We will work together to enhance skills, provide the right channels for skill training, and actively strengthen cybersecurity to secure Thailand's personal and sensitive data in the cloud. This collaboration will also address digital talent gap and elevate Thailand's cybersecurity standards."

Pichet Thongphan, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Skill Development (DSD), said: "Although cloud computing has gained its popularity in Thailand in the last few years, the current cybersecurity workforce could not keep pace with the industry's demands. To address this growing concern, government agencies collaborate with private organizations to support digital workforce cultivation and enhance cloud security knowledge. This will also empower Thailand's digital workforce to meet the ever-changing needs of Thai labor market that is in line with DSD's national development strategy. We would like to thank Huawei - our global partner - for their support in terms of technology, personnel, and facility for this training program. We also recognize Huawei's contribution in bringing advanced intelligent technology and expertise to help develop Thai digital workforce to keep up with Thailand's digital economy that has become the essential part of the country than ever before."

During the past several years, Huawei has focused on various digital talent incubation projects in Thailand through strategic collaboration with partners in both public and private sector, as well as many educational institutions in Thailand. There are several flagship programs, such as Huawei ASEAN Academy, which is the training program to cultivate and empower Thai digital workforce. 'Seeds for the Future' program aims to cultivate young ICT talents to gain access to technological knowledge and ICT innovation through high quality learning course. Huawei also launched 'Cyber Top Talent Competition' in collaboration with the NCSA to promote cybersecurity awareness and signed a MOU with the NCSA to provide cybersecurity training for ICT personnel and executives. Over the past 2 years, Huawei has been working on the 'Digital Bus' project to accelerate ICT personnel development in more than 13 provinces of Thailand, providing residents with technological knowledge including cybersecurity. These initiatives reaffirm Huawei's commitment of 'In Thailand, For Thailand' and 'Lead Everyone Forward, Leave No One Behind'.
