Vietjet and Flying Eye Hospital join hands to bring sight to millions of patients

In the 17th year of supporting Vietnam's eye care services and the 10th year conducting the Flying Eye Hospital (FEH) program in Vietnam, Orbis has accompanied with the new-age carrier Vietjet to bring bright eyes to Vietnamese people.

The opening ceremony of FEH and the MoU signing of blindness prevention between Vietjet and Orbis took place in the morning of August 21 at Thua Thien Hue Province with the witnesses of leaders of the central and local authorities and hospital representatives.

During its second time presenting at the ancient city of Hue in central Vietnam, FEH has been joined by Vietjet's volunteers. Accordingly, Vietjet's pilots, cabin crew and staff will support patients wholeheartedly during their screening sessions and carefully guide them to the surgeries which are carried out in the modern aircraft equipped with up-to-date equipment and take care of them in the post-surgery stage. All of these supports are to help the patients recover their vision as soon as possible.

Aiming to support more than 2 million people in the next 3 years, Vietjet has signed the long-term MOU named "Bright eyes for Vietnamese" with Orbis. The US$1 million project starts by building retinal centers for premature birth at Dak Lak and Thanh Hoa provinces. Besides, Vietjet has accompanied with Orbis to promote education programs, events and communications in order to enhance knowledge of prevention of eye issues nationwide.

In this long-term project, Vietjet and Orbis expect to double the Orbis' past achievements in Vietnam, pioneering for corporate social activities in general and for blindness prevention in particular.The Flying Eye Hospital aircraft has a wingspan of 50 metres, a height of 17.8 metres and a length of 55.3 metres, reaching the size of a Boeing 777 airplane but heavier due to extra machines for treatment. The cabin area is 610 square meters and designed to be a small hospital. From the operating room, 3D eye surgeries are live to all training room in the world.

FEH has been travelling around the world to exchange knowledge and to help the disadvantaged. The flying hospital has come to Vietnam 10 times and landed at 6 cities and provinces, including: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Can Tho and Thua Thien Hue.

Besides making the dreams of flying come true for millions of customers, Vietjet also significantly care about the society and disadvantaged situations, bringing new and better values to everyone. Previously, Vietjet has 10 years of accompanying with Community Disaster Prevention Fund, "Light up the dreams" for children at the Northern provinces, visit SOS children villages often, etc. so as to bring meaningful and humanistic contributions.
