Thailand Shop Till You Drop December

The eCommerce leader experienced the sweet smell of success as shoppers in December last year purchased a whopping 500 litres of perfume. And the number one fragrance? 50% of perfumes added to shoppers' WearYouWant carts were Davidoff Cool Water Blue. Bangkok-based customers, who made up 51% of shoppers, put perfume at the top of their December orders.

Julien Chalte Co-Founder & Co-CEO of WearYouWant explains who the online retailer's customers are. "In December the profile that emerged of our classic customer was a 36 year old woman, living in Bangkok who likes to shop on Wednesdays between 11 am and 2 pm. Some 50% of WearYouWant purchases were made during this shopping peak time of three hours last month; some mid-week retail therapy outside the rush hour December traffic. With transactions and turnover increasing, year-on-year, we had one customer in the festive month purchasing 200 items in one shopping cart. It's great news for WearYouWant and for Thailand's growing eCommerce industry."

Outside of Bangkok, 20% of WearYouWant customers logged on and filled shopping carts from Chiang Mai customers with white shoes being the favorite purchase during December. In Nonthaburi, home to 19% of shoppers, 62% of skincare products, the top purchase, were make-up buys as customers look forward to a beautiful 2016. A tenth of online customers, placing orders in Chonburi, were mainly looking for a new outfit as long as it was black, with 79% of fashion orders being for clothes this color.

Annual turnover at the end of 2015, was 200% higher than the previous year, with a 150% hike in turnover generated by mobile devices. Transactions too rose by 160%.
