Manage Diabetes Online [http://www.managediabetesonline.org ], Manage Hypertension Online [http://www.managehypertensiononline.org ] and Manage Thyroid Online [http://www.managethyroidonline.org ] - each developed and operated by EXCEMED [http://www.excemed.org ] - combine the world's top expertise with dynamic learning formats including expert editorials, slide presentations, video lectures and key conference summaries as well as CME-accredited e-learning courses.

"EXCEMED is proud to present these tools to doctors with particular acknowledgement to the truly global nature of what we are offering - the Scientific Committee for these projects draw top experts from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America," says Roberta Cenci, Head of Educational Strategy for EXCEMED.

Also from EXCEMED, the 2015 Asia Pacific conference on cardiometabolic diseases management [http://www.managediabetesonline.org/live-events/2015-asia-pacific-conference-cardiometabolic-diseases-management ] takes place 4-5 July in Mumbai, India, and will address diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for diabetes, hypertension and thyroid dysfunction in daily clinical practice.

According to the Global Burden of Disease study (Lancet 2012), high blood pressure is still the leading cause of death in the world and remains an unsolved problem in cardiovascular medicine.

Diabetes Mellitus, especially type 2, is a growing epidemic in Asia as lifestyles in the continent change. A particular genetic predisposition in these populations is also present. The 6th Edition of the International Diabetes Federation Atlas indicates that 8.2% of the populations (75 million) in South-East Asian countries and 8.5% of the population (138 million) in Western Pacific countries have diabetes.

Thyroid disorders are also very common in Asia Pacific countries, mostly due to iodine deficiency combined with genetic factors.

Taken together, hypertension, heart failure, diabetes and thyroid disorders share common pathophysiologic mechanisms and clinical issues that are often tough tasks to face in clinical practice.
