Asia’s top integrated resort offers unprecedented experiences in Cotai

The highly-anticipated Titanic The Exhibition and The Human Bodies Exhibition arrived at The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel to make their Macao debut Wednesday. Hundreds of thousands of visitors who will head to Sands China’s Cotai Strip? development during the fall and winter seasons will have the chance to experience an astonishing and unprecedented journey like no other in the region. Both supported by the Macau Government Tourist Office, Titanic The Exhibition and The Human Bodies Exhibition will open to the public from October 25 through February 24, 2013 between noon and 8 pm daily, at The Venetian Macao’s CotaiExpo? Hall F.

An opening event for the two unique world-class attractions was held on Wednesday at the exhibition venue. Officiating guests were Brendon Elliott, Vice President of Sales and Resort Marketing, Venetian Macau Ltd; Tom Zaller, President and CEO of Imagine Exhibitions Inc., the creator and developer of Titanic The Exhibition and The Human Bodies Exhibition; and Dr. Sui Hong Jin, Director of Department of Anatomy of Dalian Medical University. An actor portraying Captain Edward Smith of the Titanic gave an introduction to the iconic ship at the beginning of the event. Two acrobats also delivered a breathtaking performance showcasing the strength of the human body on stage. Led by Zaller, travel partners and members of the press were also given an exclusive guided tour of the two exhibitions.

“Titanic The Exhibition gives us an inside look at one of history’s most spectacular ships, and we get to learn some of the stories behind its crew and passengers. And The Human Bodies Exhibition lets us see the amazing complexity and beauty of the human body in a way usually reserved for doctors and medical students. We have been overwhelmed by the advanced sales of these two great exhibitions with over 10,000 tickets already sold prior to the opening. The Venetian Macao will continue to bring unique and diverse events for the enjoyment of both our visitors and locals, as we help elevate Macao’s status as a world centre of tourism and leisure,” Elliott said.

For the first time ever in China, Titanic The Exhibition, sponsored by National Geographic Society, tells the epic story of the famed ship’s maiden and only voyage, through sensational room recreations and replicas of authentic artefacts recovered from two and a half miles (over four kilometres) below the surface of the North Atlantic Ocean. Filled with an abundance of dramatic images and over 400 replica artefacts, the exhibition is an interactive experience, where visitors will receive a boarding pass corresponding with a passenger on the great ship, allowing them to relate to the individual story of their passenger as they walk through the first, second and third class galleries. They will also hear the music of the era as they examine cabin recreations, stroll the promenade deck and marvel at the 27-foot-high Grand Staircase, an exact reconstruction of the real Grand Staircase of the Titanic.

“Everyone can relate to someone on Titanic and the story of her voyage still resonates all over the world,” Zaller stated. “This particular exhibition really immerses the visitors in the moving tale of the Titanic voyage at every part of her journey by allowing visitors to experience the sights, sounds and stories as if they were on the ship.”

One of the most successful exhibitions of all time, The Human Bodies Exhibition has already attracted over 30 million people around the world to view this eye-opening educational event. Featuring over 200 individual organs and full body specimens, visitors can move from gallery to gallery dedicated to each function of the miraculous human system, where fascinating information about how the body works and how lifestyle and the environment can affect every part of the human body is given. A journey of discovery, it is a highly educational and inspiring exhibition for all ages.

“The Human Bodies Exhibition is so successful as both an exhibition and as a teaching tool because we can all relate it. It’s impossible not to learn something when you are presented with such an intricate, detailed and beautiful exploration of your own body,” Dr. Sui said.
