How Far From Us

Solo exhibition by a leading Chinese photographer “Lu Jun”

La Lanta Fine Art

May 21 – June 29, 2011

La Lanta Fine Art is pleased to announce a new solo exhibition by a leading Chinese contemporary artist “Lu Jun.” A recipient of 2009 Florence Biennale's Gold Prize in Photography, Lu Jun's genre-blending technique has earned him recognition in innumerable international art magazines including Art Manager, Chinese Photography, Art Gallery, and Britain's Genius List of 100 Top International Artists.

Lu Jun's work takes its cue from one of China's most well-known art forms -- traditional landscape painting -- but his process is wholly contemporary. His photography is “digital ink and wash.” First he patiently observes the movement of ink in water, as it flows into strands of varying ebbs and flows. Water will always find a natural course, unguided and unforced.

Lu Jun photographs the paths of the ink with a camera. Then, through digital manipulation, he carefully gathers strands from each image to weave into a new form. Through this process, the ink becomes both the subject and the medium.

“How Far From Us” is a continuation of Lu Jun's group exhibition in the National Gallery in Bangkok. The work featured in the exhibition at La Lanta Fine Art will include the work in the collections of HSBC (Shanghai), Hunan Art Museum, and Art Magazine (Beijing).

“How Far From Us” will be on display at La Lanta Fine Art from May 21 until June 29, 2011. Opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 21 at from 5 to 7 pm.

La Lanta Fine Art is located at 245/14 Sukhumvit Soi 31, Klongtan Nua, Wattana, Bangkok 10110 Tel: +662 204 0583 or +662 260 5381 Fax: +662 204 0582 e-mail: [email protected]. Opening hours Tues. – Sat. 10.00 am – 7.00 pm.
