Portrait of Silence

Painting exhibition by Lim Khim Katy

La Lanta Fine Art

September 11 – October 25, 2010

Lim Khim Katy returns to Bangkok after a debut of her first show outside of Vietnam in 2006 at La Lanta Fine Art. Four years later, the artist has attained an international reputation, with credit to her strong and passionate depiction of livelihood in Vietnam.

In “Portrait of Silence” exhibition, female figures and their facial expressions are eminent. Drawn from her perceptive experience as a new mother and from the conversation of women around her, Lim Khim Katy portrays the unvoiced contribution of women in her society and their struggle to live a comfortable life.

The 15 new paintings in “Portrait of Silence” exhibition cohesively tell an allegory of women’s commitment to care for the family, the hard work required to obtain the income, as well as the suggestion of current social slant.

Remaining true to her distinctive style, Lim Khim Katy conveys strong emotions that are deeper than what the eyes can see on the canvas, using only painting knives and limited color palette.

Please join La Lanta Fine Art to view the artwork and to meet Lim Khim Katy at the artist reception on Saturday, September 11 at 5 pm to 7 pm.

The exhibition continues to be on display until October 25. Opening hours Tues. to Sat. 10 am – 7 pm. Closed on Monday.
