Ampol Food Highlights Green Innovations. In response to Global Trends, Production and Distribution Processes are Getting Eco-Friendlier.V-Fit Brown Rice Milk Gets Spotlight at ThaiFex 2012

Mr. Kriengsak Theppadungporn, managing director of Ampol Food Processing Company Limited or Ampol Food, says consumers in foreign countries particularly Europe are now becoming health conscious. According to him, they have looked for chemical-free food and also for eco-friendly products. They have favored entrepreneurs that are environmentally responsible. At the same time, an increasing number of consumers have appreciated the home-sweet-home value. They are the type that will rush home for meals with their family members.

In response to such global trends, Mr. Kriengsak says businesses will need to seriously embrace green and health concepts to achieve their sustainable growth. He says Ampol Food has thus placed a greater emphasis on its green policy. Not only that the company has integrated its green policy to its production and marketing process, but it has also procured eco-friendlier materials under the AP Green Innovation concept. Its goal, he says, is to establish itself as one of the world’s Leading Eco-Friendly Food Innovator within 10 years or by 2022.

“In the future, only businesses that embrace the nature will survive. In other words, entrepreneurs must reduce the use of chemicals and place a greater emphasis on consumers’ safety. As for Ampol Food, we have conducted researches in collaboration with many universities in our bid to create products that use more natural materials. We have focused on the green trend without losing sight on our commitment to great taste, good health, and food safety. We have inculcated in our employees and business partners the attitudes that count our customers as family members. We of course have wished to serve good, safe, and delicious food for our family. With such focus in mind, we have planned to create more organic food products,” Mr. Kriengsak says.

To fulfill consumers’ needs for natural products, Ampol Food has highlighted the V-Fit Brown Rice Milk products at the ThaiFex 2012. The milk comes from organic rice and rich in nutritious vitamins including GABA, an amino acid that calms nervous activity. The V-Fit Brown Rice Milk products are available in true formulae, the original flavor and the sugar-free flavor.

At the ThaiFex 2012, Ampol Food also launches a new distribution channel to respond better to the new-generation people’s lifestyle and green trends. Mr. Kriengsak has dubbed this channel the APF Online. Via this channel, consumers can buy Ampol Food products from www.ampolfood.com or www.trendyday.com. If the purchase is at Bt499 or more, OfficeMate will deliver the products to customers living in Bangkok the next day. The delivery will be made within three days if the customers live in provinces. Mr. Kriengsak discloses that his company has been planning to provide a virtual mart in the future too. Via the virtual mart, consumers will just need to scan a QR Code of the products to get them delivered to home.

In line with the home-sweet-home concept, Ampol Food has developed the RoiThai Application for iPad users. This cool application, which has combined new technology with the homey yet trendy lifestyle, has offered great recipes using the ready-to-cook Roi Thai curry soup products. Customers can download the RoiThai Application from 23 May 2012 onward.

Mr. Kriengsak adds that his company has adopted many standard procedures to make its facilities greener too. For example, in collaboration with academics, Ampol Food is working on a plan to achieve zero waste in its production line. Presently, most of coconut-shell and coconut-fat waste has been recycled into sources of energy. The green efforts, Mr. Kriengsak points out, has significantly lowered the company’s energy expense and production cost.

Since 2008, Ampol Food has also launched a public campaign to collect emptied UHT cartons from consumers. Titled “Magic Cartons”, the campaign has asked for the donations of the used UHT cartons that are turned into chipboards and eventually into tables/chairs for needy schools. Mr. Kriengsak reveals that his company has continued to attract more allies and participants to this campaign. To date, this campaign has successfully recycled more than 100,000 kilograms of cartons and produced more than 5,500 sets of tables and chairs for students. Ampol Food is confident that the increased cooperation will allow the company to get more than 20 million cartons or more than 200,000 kilograms of the cartons for the recycling in 2012. The amount, Mr. Kriengsak says, will be translated into over 8,400 sets of tables and chairs.

Ampol Food Processing Company Limited is the manufacturer, distributor, and exporters of food and beverages. Its famous products include Chaokoh Coconut Milk, Roy Thai ready-to-cook curry soup, and V-Fit Rice Milk. Throughout more than 25 years of its operation, the company has enjoyed continued business growth.
