ETIX Everywhere invests 1 Billion Baths to consolidate its data center footprint in Thailand

ETIX Everywhere has announced the investment of 1 Billion Baths into its data center ETIX Bangkok#1. This announce follows the official signature of the Sell and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Interlink Telecom to buy their shares (representing 33% of the company). In addition to this buyout, ETIX Everywhere will also invest into an additional new IT module of 2 MW of IT capacity, increasing the total capacity of ETIX Bangkok#1 to 4.7 MW.

In January 2022, ETIX announced its presence in Thailand with the acquisition of 67% of a data center called Genesis with 600 kW of IT capacity installed. Less than 3 years later, ETIX announces now that they buyout the remaining 33% of ETIX Bangkok#1 (ex. Genesis), and increase the installed capacity of the data center to 4.7 MW. This new investment comes in the right time, as the company is witnessing an important demand for more capacity mainly driven by international customers.

"Partnering with Interlink Telecom over the past 3 years has been a very positive and successful experience, we were glad to have them by our side", says Louis Blanchot, Group CEO of ETIX Everywhere. "Today marks another major milestone for ETIX in Thailand with this new investment which shows our strong commitment to become a major data center player in Bangkok."

ETIX had announced earlier this year that they had already increased the capacity of ETIX Bangkok#1 with another module just released. Initially planned to be fulfilled in 3 years it has been sold out in just 3 months. This impressive growth demonstrates a change in the Thai data center market that requires now larger investment capacity.

Although the Thai market is not yet as dynamic as those in Malaysia or Indonesia, recent announcements from major cloud providers entering the country have boosted both supply and demand. Similarly, the AI demand has also positioned Thailand as a suitable market due to its very stable power grid and solid data center suppliers.

"Our most recent clients are mainly major international cloud, content, and AI providers," says Pierre Patris, CEO Asia of ETIX Everywhere. "They're requesting more colocation capacity, and this additional module will help meeting their demand. But this won't be enough, to address their significant demand, we've secured real estate options to offer our customers the scalability they need. This will consolidate ETIX position as a large AI-ready data center player of Southeast Asia"

The growing demand for colocation capacity is becoming apparent, although these are still early indicators. The Thailand data center market is currently at the lower phase of the S-curve and is poised for rapid growth. A significant increase in capacity is on the horizon, and ETIX is preparing for this surge by expanding both its data center capacity and its operational standards. The recent certifications at ETIX Bangkok#1 such as ISO 14001, ISO 22301, ISO 27001, ISO 50001, and PCI DSS underscores that an increase in capacity does not compromise on service quality.
