The Camp invites guests to ring in the Lunar New Year with festivities in the Golden Triangle
Even as the new year bliss settles on the misty tree-tops at Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, another cause for celebration is already here. Marking 19 years since the Camp first opened its doors to guests on January 15, 2006, the team is excited to commemorate this significant milestone. "The story of the camp is quite remarkable, being the first-of-its-kind anywhere in Thailand and a special addition to the already impressive portfolio of Four Seasons hotels in the country," shares Sean Mosher, General Manager, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai and Tented Camp Golden Triangle. "This getaway destination for people who are fatigued from their urban lifestyles and looking for a wilderness experience has come into its own in the past two decades," adds Paweena Waraha, Camp Manager.
Ring in the Lunar New Year Amid Bamboo Thickets
Blending luxury with authentic experiences, the Camp represents the very finest of that dynamic. This year, the festivities lead up to the Lunar New Year where specially curated menus with a focus on Chinese and Asian delicacies from around the region take centre stage. "Our celebration starts with an auspicious blessing by 9 Buddhist monks," says Paweena, highlighting the activities that guests can look forward. From tailored breakfasts to a special menu of cocktails, the Camp infuses a unique Asian touch to bring its location and the significance of the Lunar New Year to the fore.
Adventure and Luxury in Nature's Embrace
Every aspect of the Camp lends itself to the overarching theme of adventure, with a range of immaculately crafted tents that hark back to the golden age of exploration. Vintage explorer artifacts blend almost seamlessly with the gilded interiors of the uber-luxurious tents, making for an unforgettable glamping experience in the heart of the Golden Triangle. "Nature is what makes all of this possible, and the Camp has devoted tremendous resources and time to give back to this fragile eco-system," shares Paweena. Partnering with local communities to retain the surrounding landscape, the team serves as guardians of the Golden Triangle and guests staying here are encouraged to participate in specially coordinated activities such as tree-planting and many more.
Winter Wonderland
Winters are mild and magical here at this outpost where Thailand meets Myanmar and Laos in a stunning convergence of mountainous and riverine landscapes. "Most of our guests this time of the year are escaping the biting cold of more northern climes and are thrilled to find themselves ensconced in blue skies and bamboo jungles at the Camp," adds the Camp Manager. Some of the local gems that cannot be missed include learning the traditional art of fishing in the river, adventure trekking at Ban Ja Jor to visit the Lahu Hilltribe village, experiencing craft coffee and arts, and a visit to the Doi Tung Cottage Industries Centre. "Witness the unique way of life in a traditional Chinese village, whose residents have lived here for generations in the mountains of Northern Thailand," suggests Paweena. "This Mandarin-speaking community has preserved its customs over centuries, and their special high-mountain Oolong tea is perfectly suited to this high altitude and especially famous." While the guide reveals the fascinating political history of the region, guests can soak in the beautiful mountain scenery.
"With a host of outdoor activities and cultural excursions, including boat rides on the Ruak River, there's no better place to celebrate your spirit of adventure than with us as another year dawns," she smiles.
