eCommerce platform's latest logistics facility leverages automation technology and increases sorting capacity to over 2 million parcels per day.
Lazada Thailand recently expanded its Priority Delivery service to 23 major provinces in Thailand, offering customers next day delivery*. This is made possible by its new world-class automated logistics center on Thepharak Road, which is part of the platform's efforts to strengthen the efficiency and standard of logistics services with enhanced parcel sortation speed and improved parcel routing and handling.
The Thepharak Sortation Center increases Lazada Thailand's sorting capacity to over two million parcels a day, allowing it to cater to Thailand's growing appetite for online shopping and driving the country's eCommerce growth.
James Marchant, Chief Logistics Officer, Lazada Thailand, said, "We are confident that a comprehensive and advanced logistics ecosystem is key to sustainable eCommerce growth. As a leading one-stop logistics solution provider, Lazada Logistics places importance on delivering orders quickly and seamlessly. This includes increasing the efficiency of our first-to-last-mile facilities and processes, as well as the introduction of our Priority Delivery option which answers the increasing demand from consumers who want their orders faster."
Lazada launched its Priority Delivery service in September 2022 to provide shoppers with an option to receive their parcels within two working days after the order is confirmed. The service is automatically applicable for products purchased from selected LazMall, LazPick, and participating marketplace stores with no additional delivery fees*. Priority Delivery is now available in 23 major provinces across Thailand, including Bangkok and the surrounding metropolitan region, Chon Buri, and Nakhon Ratchasima. Shoppers can look for products which offer Priority Delivery by looking out for the Priority Delivery icon on product pages, or select the Priority Delivery filter while using the search function.
Marchant added, "We have found that customer satisfaction tends to increase with Priority Delivery, which is associated with a lower cancellation rate and a better bottom line for brands. Lazada has been able to expand its Priority Delivery services continuously because of its strategically located and technologically advanced sortation centers."
The Thepharak Sortation Center is equipped with automation technology that runs over 75% of the center's operations and enhances its efficiency. The automated parcel handling, sorting and packing system reduces reliance on manual labor, enabling staff to mainly focus on more strategic tasks. This not only increases speed and overall efficiency but also improves workplace safety for employees.
Additionally, higher accuracy in the parcel sortation process ensures parcels are delivered to their destinations without delays from misrouting. Impact from parcel handling is also reduced, lowering the chances of damage. The sorting capacity is also scalable, and can accommodate growing order numbers which is crucial for sellers during peak periods.
