The Department of Environment Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University together with S.Napa and GUSCO, part of the SN Group Joined Forces in Innovation Development for Sustainable Society

          The Department of Environment Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, together with S.Napa (Thailand) Company Limited and Global Utilities Services Company Limited, part of the SN Group, team up with the Department of Industrial Works and Environmental Engineering Association of Thailand to join hands in organizing "The 2nd Environmental Engineering Day" from February 9-10, 2018 between 08.30 a.m. – 04.00 p.m. at the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, with the aim to promote knowledge and innovation on sustainable development within Thai society and keep in meeting rapid global changes. 
          Mrs. Katevalee Napasab, Chairman of S.Napa (Thailand) Company Limited and Global Utilities Service Company Limited outlined that "S.Napa and GUSCO, as part of the SN Group are leaders in water treatment and environmental technology in Thailand with a commitment to continuously promote research and development to innovation and technology. The services of S.Napa and GUSCOs consultancy, design, construction, operation of water and wastewater plant for both industrial and municipal market and the complete project management for water recycle and reuse plant. The services also cover design installations and maintenance for swimming pool and water fountain including integrated after-sale service. 
          With 60 years of experience, S.Napa and GUSCO offer customer complete water solutions in Thailand with centers located throughout the regions nationwide, allowing flexibility in meeting customer demands. The policy set out by S.Napa and GUSCO for 2018 focus on developing new initiative in term of innovation and technology that relate to Thailand 4.0 Model, Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), Special Economic Zones and Smart Park.
          Mrs. Katevalee further added, "S.Napa and GUSCO have carried out continuous improvement through corporate developments with aim to achieve excellence. The past year SN Group has signed MOU with the Chulalongkorn University by Faculty of Engineering in order to enhance and connect the outcome to the management of natural and environmental resources, with aim to establish sustainable development of Thai society. At the event, S.Napa and GUSCO introduced its "Mobile Plant" and invited experts to share their professional knowledge on "environmental engineering experience".
          Assoc. Prof. Pisut Painmanakul Dr.Ing., Associate Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, talked about the collaboration between Chulalongkorn University and SN Group by stating that "Department of Environment Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, is equipped with competent specialists and personnel with extensive work experiences relating to industrial sectors. These specialists are skilled in various fields, including water, air and industrial waste treatment and sustainable environment management. The Department has also been closely working together with private and local sectors in resolving community problems, transferring technology to society, promoting knowledge development and innovation creativity for Thai society, allowing it to become widely recognized and accepted at International level. The establishment of this collaboration aims to promote sharing of knowledge and experiences, supporting site visits and correcting problems on site, including promoting research and experiments and local knowledge development in concrete manner. 
          In short: Chulalongkorn University and SN Group will jointly organize an activity for the development of younger environmental engineers to support future growth, including promoting research and development on the membrane process which today is widely recognized. The purpose of this activity is to promote the use of membranes for optimal benefit, forcing many researchers to develop a membrane with extended useful life to help reduce replacement cost. In the long-term: great cooperation between both organizations can be realized in the future since the Company may need to rely on studies conducted by Chulalongkorn University in addressing operational challenges and where Chulalongkorn University is ready to provide support in terms of conducting research. At the same time, the Company is ready to support Chulalongkorn University by providing facilities and venues for organizing training, site visit and research, allowing mutual benefits. In addition, this collaboration also aims to build "National Branding" in respect to environmental technology advancement capable of promoting sustainable development. Although this may seem like a long way to go, the collaboration between the two parties has already started and therefore guaranteed a bright future for Thai innovations to be introduced on global stage
