TRIPADVISOR NAMES THAILAND’S BEST HOTELS IN 2015 TRAVELLERS’ CHOICE AWARDS

          Ko Tao’s The Place named Top Hotel in the world for Luxury, Romance, Service and Small Hotels

          TripAdvisor™, the world’s largest travel site*, today announced the winners of its Travellers’ Choice™ awards for Hotels. The 13th annual awards showcase 8,151 winning properties worldwide, covering eight regions around the globe. Travellers’ Choice award winners were determined based on the millions of reviews and opinions collected in a single year from TripAdvisor travellers worldwide. The hallmarks of Travellers’ Choice winners are remarkable service, quality and value.
          “TripAdvisor’s community of millions of travellers has helped us highlight some of the very best hotels from around the world,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor. “The Travellers’ Choice list of thousands of award-winning properties is perfect to inspire travellers as they think about their 2015 travel plans. From opulent, luxury hotels to budget-friendly B&Bs, those looking for an accommodation can research, compare prices and book a Travellers’ Choice property on TripAdvisor, or any other hotel that meets their travel needs.”
          True to Thailand’s position as a leading global destination, hotels around the country picked up a number of accolades in the regional and global arena. Mr.Pichaya Saisaengchan, Director Domestic Public Relations Division for Tourism Authority of Thailand said, “The TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards set the standard for the global travel industry. With so many properties across the country being recognised in this year’s awards, it shows that Thai hospitality continues to be recognised all over the world.”
          Most notable among the list of winner’s was The Place, an independent resort on Ko Tao that picked up the top global award in an impressive four categories, including Top Luxury Hotel, Best Hotel for Romance, Top Small Hotel and Best Hotel for Service.           The Layana Resort and Spa has been ranked Top Hotel in Thailand, as well as second in the Best Hotels for Romance category, fourth in the Best Hotels for Luxury category and seventh in the Best Hotels for Service category in Thailand. While these are the favourite hotels of travellers around the world, there are some great bargains available when booking on TripAdvisor. The average nightly rate of Travellers’ Choice award-winning Top Hotels on TripAdvisor is ฿11,700; Bargain is ฿3,000; B&Bs and Inns is ฿4,500; Family is ฿8,200; Luxury is ฿15,800; Romance is ฿17,700; Service is ฿15,800 and Small Hotels is ฿18,400.
          A recent survey2 of TripAdvisor travellers revealed 79 percent of respondents in Southeast Asia feel Travellers’ Choice award recognition is important when considering a hotel.

Bo Phut Resort & Spa is located in Koh Samui, one of Thailand's loveliest tropical islands. The resort is a fine example of traditional and contemporary Thai design, combining exotic decor with a tranquil setting. All 61 rooms are designed in a Modern Thai style, featuring modern amenities. A TripAdvisor reviewer said, “It was very relaxing and the staff were all very attentive. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable, with wonderful bathrooms. Listen to the birds while having a cup of tea in the mornings.”
          3. Elephant Hills Tented Camp, Surat Thani
          Elephant Hills is a tented jungle camp combining the camp idea of African national parks with the Thai tropical forest environment, still providing hotel-like comfort. The furniture is handmade by skilled craftsmen using natural materials. A TripAdvisor reviewer said, “The location is beautiful, great food and of course the elephants are amazing. The rainforest (floating tent) is stunning. Beautiful scenery and great to be on limited electricity etc. Absolutely loved it!”
