AIT’s School of Management scores high in Eduniversal Global Ranking 2012 SOM ranked 2nd in Thailand, 22nd in Far East Asia & 146th in the World

Bangkok--14 Nov--AIT

The School of Management (SOM) at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is one of two business schools in Thailand to crack the global top 200 in a newly released ranking of the world’s best 1000 business schools in 154 countries. In the Eduniversal Worldwide Business School Ranking 2012 announced in Paris on October 24, AIT’s School of Management placed 146th globally, and second in Thailand, just 24 percentage points behind Chulalongkorn University's Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration. In Asia, AIT SOM placed 22nd of all graduate business schools in the Far East Asia geographical region. Dean of the School of Management Dr. Barbara Igel said: “Faculty, students and staff at AIT’s School of Management are very proud of having yet again achieved recognition for being well known internationally. “We are particularly happy to have kept this rank despite having our campus inundated by the most devastating flood in Thailand in recent history, which engulfed our buildings for almost two months and destroyed all classrooms located on the ground floor of the school.” In the global second-tier category of "Top Business Schools" which are "internationally known", SOM placed 45th in a statistical tie with Concordia University's John Molson School of Business (Canada), University of Otago's School of Business (New Zealand), Istanbul University's Faculty of Business Administration (Turkey), Singapore Management University's Lee Kong Chian School of Business (Singapore), and the Universidade Catolica Portuguesa - Faculdade de Ci?ncias Econ?micas e Empresariais (Portugal). Sasin and the School of Management were the only business schools in Thailand ranked in the Top Business School category. Other business schools in Thailand included in the ranking were from Thammasat University, Kasetsart University, Chiang Mai University, Prince of Songkla University and Khon Kean University. The 2012 ranking is based on the results of a survey vote conducted from December 2011 to March 2012 of the deans of 1,000 top academic institutions around the world. Every dean's vote was transformed into a recommendation as a means to evaluate and compare academic institutions. Harvard University Business School was deemed the world’s best.
