This August, Discovery Channel explores the cutthroat world of storage-unit auctions in the all-new series, AUCTION HUNTERS. Every day in America, there are over ten thousand abandoned storage units that are put up for public auction. The series offers a rare look into the high stakes, financial risks and potential rewards where the right purchase can bring in serious cash. AUCTION HUNTERS premieres on Discovery Channel every Thursday at 2000 hrs starting August 11 on TrueVisions 20 and encores every Thursday at 2300 hrs, Friday at 0700 hrs and 1300 hrs and Sunday at 1400 hrs. Amidst a struggling economy, the business of auction hunting has emerged as a thriving trade for many Americans. AUCTION HUNTERS follows two of the best prospectors in the business, Clinton "Ton" Jones, a historical weapons and old currency expert, and Allen Haff, a second generation antiques dealer, as they participate in storage-unit auctions throughout Southern California. Allowed only a brief glimpse inside the units before each fast-paced auction begins, skill and strategy are paramount as our hunters have only seconds to estimate the value of the unit and determine how high they’re willing to bid to beat the competition. Once an auction is won, the story and true monetary worth of the unit emerge as Ton and Allen begin “the dig,” a process by which they literally dig into the contents of the unit and assess every single item within. The Big Score The business of storage-unit auctions has emerged as a thriving trade for many, including Ton and Allen. The duo bid on units in downtown LA and uncover a '70s German H&K P7 pistol and a rare copper cash register. Ton’s Got A Gun The guys enter a high-stakes bidding war with Allen's old rivals. Ton and Allen uncover a depression-era "Art Case" slot machine, a custom mini-bike and a Wild West 1880s Colt Peacemaker, but can they turn a profit? Strat’d For Cash Ton and Allen stake out a high-end auction. They uncover a Maui Blue '70s Fender Stratocaster and a rare 1936 jet-inspired Schwinn, but will this rusty ride rake in the riches? The Real Thing In a beach town's storage unit auction, Ton and Allen run into an old rival. They win a classic GMC truck and discover its tricked-out chrome engine. They also uncover the first upright Coke vending machine, but is it the real thing? Weapons of Past Destruction At a storage auction in Hollywood, Ton and Allen find century-old Masonic swords, a World War II Japanese samurai blade and a "Nixon-Era" polygraph machine. They also discover Civil War era black powder muskets and test them at a range. Gangster Whiskey At a desert storage auction, Ton discovers 1920s prohibition whiskey likely smuggled by Al Capone, but will he sell it or crack it open? The guys uncover the first ever CD player and a classic 1951 record jukebox. Home on the Gun Range The guys head to a storage unit auction in Corona, California.
