In response to increased market demand, General Motors Thailand (GMTH) has announced it will start the second shift on its truck line in March 2011 – two months ahead of schedule. Additionally GMTH has increased production rate on its carline by 23 percent since February 2011. It is projected that these operating changes will result in an addition of about 500 jobs.
“This is a significant milestone of our growth plan, as we prepare our manufacturing operations in Thailand to launch the next generation of exciting products including Chevrolet’s all-new new truck and truck-based SUV,” Mr. Kaher Kazem, Vice-President of Manufacturing and Quality, General Motors Thailand/Southeast Asia.
“We are committed to providing our customers with the best ownership experience by providing products with outstanding Quality. In a recent Quality survey conducted in 2010 by JD Power, Chevrolet was the most improved brand of all brands sold in Thailand and also improved at twice the speed of the industry average. This truly demonstrates the capability of the Thailand team,” Mr. Kazem added.
