Blue Elephant Group launches new products at ThaiFex 2011

Bangkok--27 May--GHC Asia

Aims to support Thai restaurants worldwide to ensure authenticity of Thai cuisine and to overcome EU restrictions on Thai herbs and vegetables The Blue Elephant International Group’s trading arm, Blue Spice Co., Ltd., today used the ThaiFex 2011 event as a platform to launch five new products to help ease the challenges that restaurants serving Thai food in Europe are presently facing due to import restrictions of important Thai vegetables and herbs. Since October 2010, the import of Thai basil along with lemongrass, eggplants and chillies amongst other indigenous vegetables has been banned from entering the EU due to an increase in insecticide residues and micro-organisms. Blue Spice, therefore, launched new products namely ready-mixed Panaeng Curry Paste and Thai Basil Stir-Fry Paste as well as Thai Basil Oil, which will help eateries serving Thai food around the world, and more specifically in Europe, maintain the authenticity of Thai cuisine. “Due to the EU’s restrictions on importing fresh Thai herbs and vegetables since last year, restaurants serving Thai food in Europe have been affected considerably. Hence, we have created and produced new ready-mixed recipes to help overcome this concern. I believe that Thai restaurants in Europe will be eager to embrace our ready-mixed Panaeng curry and Thai basil stir-fry pastes, and I am proud and happy to have created products that will be of benefit to all Thai restaurants in order to maintain the authenticity of Thai dishes”, said Blue Elephant’s Founder and Master Chef, Nooror Somany Steppe. “Since its inception in 1980, the Blue Elephant Group has played a significant role in promoting Thai cuisine and culture internationally, and we are committed to continue to promoting Thai food and Thai ingredients for many years to come. Although we already export our products to over 20 countries, we are constantly seeking additional distributors in order to further promote Thai cuisine around the world”, added Master Chef Nooror. The Blue Elephant International Group also launched Thai fresh roasted coffee and Thai coffee beans at ThaiFex, which is being held at IMPACT’s Challenger 1 – 3 during May 25 – 29, 2011. These new products join a vast product line of Thai sauces, spices, curry pastes, appetizers, rice, noodles, tea and cooking sets.
