Milo Whole Grain Breakfast Cereal in partnership with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (THPF) and Chulalongkorn University Sports Center (CUSC) have officially launched the “Milo Energy Cereal Futsal 2010” futsal competition allowing young Thais aged between 12 and 15 years to enroll in the competition for a chance to become futsal champions and win exceptional prizes. The qualifying round will begin from 31 July to 8 August 2010 in a knockout format. The final round will be held on 21 August 2010. Interested teens can enroll in the competition now. Viwat Vigrantanoros, Executive President of Exercise and Sports for Health Promotion Plan, Thai Health Promotion Foundation (THPF) said “The Milo Energy Futsal 2010 activity aligns with the mission of THPF to support activities which encourage sustainable health of Thai people. Futsal is considered useful in promoting good health for Thai teens in addition to helping the competing teams to foster close relationships and build team spirit for an improved quality of life.” Managing Director of Chulalongkorn University Sports Center Assist. Prof. Suchart Taweepornpathomkul, Ph.D. said “Chulalongkorn University Sports Center believes the promotion of sport is an important way to develop good health amongst young Thais. Therefore, we have organized the Milo Energy Cereal Futsal 2010 activity to encourage Thai teenagers to play futsal which not only benefits the health and mind, but also helps foster friendship among teenagers. The activity is open for teenagers between 12 and 15 years of age and each team must consist of 10 – 12 members. The qualifying round will be played in a knockout format on 31 July, 1, 7 and 8 August 2010 at Futsal Pitch behind Supachalasai Stadium. Eight teams will be able to compete in the final round on Sunday 21 August 2010 at MBK ground. The prizes include a trophy for the winning team, medals, certificates and cash prizes worth a total of 40,000 baht. To boost excitement on the final round of the competition, on Sunday 21 August, at MBK ground, a Futsal Clinic will be arranged for interested teenagers to participate in and learn new tips on playing futsal from legendary Thai national team football player Piyapong Pew-On. In addition, visitors will be able to watch a team of Thai teen super stars face-off on the futsal pitch. The stars will include Tony Rakkan, Mootang - ML. Attadit Ditsakul, Tangmo Pongpisut Pew-on and Alex Rendell who will take on an RS star team. A mini concert will also be arranged to entertain everyone on the day.
