New Citrix NetScaler System Sets Performance Standard for Web Application Delivery

Bangkok--24 May--PC& Associates

Citrix NetScaler 12000 Outperforms Traditional Networking Products By Handling Up to 400 Percent More Application Transactions Per Second Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced its new Citrix(R) NetScaler(R) 12000 system designed for large-scale Web applications handling millions of simultaneous users conducting hundreds of thousands of transactions per second. The new high-end offering of Citrix’s market-leading NetScaler application delivery product line raises the bar for Web application delivery with the ability to process application transactions up to 400 percent faster than the best high-end products available from other providers. Unlike traditional networking vendors that focus solely on network-layer performance and packet processing, the Citrix NetScaler 12000 is uniquely designed to deliver application-specific performance gains for today’s most complex and demanding Web applications. The NetScaler 12000 far outdistances itself from competing offerings in accelerating application transactions with more than 275,000 Web (HTTP) requests per second and 28,000 secure (SSL-based) transactions per second. These performance gains continue Citrix’s long-standing leadership in delivering the industry’s most advanced application delivery solutions. “MLB.com is a long-time user of the Citrix NetScaler products and rely on them to make certain that our users have fast, secure and reliable access to applications that enhance their baseball experience,” said Justin Shaffer, vice president and chief architect, Major League Baseball Advanced Media, L.P. “The performance enhancements in the 12000 ensure that we will be able to maintain our high level of service as we support more users and richer content.” The need for faster application processing is being driven by the rapid proliferation of rich, dynamic content, including video, voice and transaction-intensive applications. With the Citrix NetScaler 12000, the world’s largest Internet sites and global Fortune 2000 enterprises can now handle higher user volumes, offer richer and more dynamic content, and ensure faster and more secure access to Web applications and online services. “Enterprise customers are increasingly entrusting a global network to deliver applications to employees, partners and suppliers,” said Lucinda Borovick, program director for IDC’s Datacenter Networks program. “With many variables including latency, network congestion and application architecture contributing to the end user experience it is critical that IT managers take their performance requirements into account as they evaluate application networking solutions.” “With over 75 percent of all Internet users going through a NetScaler system each day and a customer base representing virtually all of the world’s largest Internet sites and enterprises, we are best positioned to drive innovation in the application delivery market,” said Wes Wasson, vice president of marketing and product strategy, Application Networking Group, Citrix. “The 12000 reflects the next generation of powerful optimization solutions that improve the delivery of mission-critical Web applications for the world’s largest enterprises.” Pricing and Availability The Citrix NetScaler 12000 supports the Enterprise Editions of the Citrix NetScaler Application Switch and Citrix Application Firewall product lines. Pricing begins at US$94,999 for the Application Switch solution, and $45,000 for the Application Firewall solution. The Citrix NetScaler 12000 will be available through authorized Citrix? Solution Advisors in late May 2006. About Citrix Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS) is the global leader and most trusted name in on-demand access.
