Baygon Continues the Fight Against Dengue in Bangkok
In its effort to continuously wake the public on the dangers that dengue poses, SC Johnson Ltd, makers and distributors of Baygon insecticide, has been visiting thousands of communities in Bangkok to distribute dengue information brochures and Baygon Lavender Coil as one way to protect themselves and to personally educate them through a team of dengue busters called Men in Baygon or MIB.
Since the onset of rainy season, Baygon has also set-up Hotline 1142-Baygon to help the anti-dengue campaign of the government. Hotline 1142-Baygon is an easy-to-remember dengue call center capable of providing basic information on dengue and in helping link the calls of the public with the government agencies which can assist them on their dengue-related concerns. Through 1142-Baygon, the caller can be connected to the Health Department Hotline or hospital specializing on Dengue, and with Bangkok Metropolitan and Health Department in UPC in terms of spraying in their communities that might be needed to prevent the dengue fever.
“Dengue is not just fatal to the society but to the economy as well,” says Khun Natawee Thanaboriboon, Managing Director of SC Johnson Ltd. Dengue fever deaths have more than doubled this year. There were 16 deaths and 8,983 infections this year, compared with seven deaths and 6,108 infections over the same period last year.
