HER ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCESS SOAMSAWALI TO PRESIDE OVER THE AWARD-WINNING CEREMONY OF PTT ART COMPETITION

Bangkok--Nov 8--PTT Today (November 7, 2002), Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali officially opened the PTT Art Exhibition and grants the awards to the winners of the 17th PTT Art Competition held at Silpakorn University Art Center, Tha Phra Palace. The Princess was accompanied by Mr. Viset Choopiban, President of PTT Public Company Limited, and Assistant Professor Thavorn Ko-Udomvit, Vice President for Arts and Culture, Silpakorn University. PTT Art Competition and Exhibition are the events organized annually by PTT and Silpakorn University. This year topic is “Trees and Beyond…from Reforestation” which is to promote a value of collaboration amongst the youth and general public on sustainable conservation of natural resources, environment, and community. On this auspicious occasion that one million rai reforestation under the Royal Project in Honor of the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty’s Reign has now completed, the art competition event is also aimed to create unity and strength of the Thais in mutually reviving the forests in Thailand. There are two levels of entry in this competition which are the Youth and the General Public. From the 2,149 entries, 24 have been awarded as the winners and will be granted total prizes worth over Bt400,000 for all awards. For the exhibition, 232 entries have been chosen and will be exhibited from today on until November 30, 2002 at Silpakorn University Art Center, Tha Phra Palace. End. -SS-
