On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was graciously appointed by His Majesty the King to preside over the degree conferral ceremony for the University of Phayao graduates of the academic year 2023. The ceremony, which took place at the Phaya Ngam Muang Auditorium in Phayao Province, included the conferral of degrees to four Buddhist monks, as well as the presentation of the Outstanding Teaching Award for 2024 and the Outstanding Researcher Award for 2023. In total, 2,904 doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degrees were awarded to deserving recipients.

The University of Phayao Council has approved the awarding of honorary doctoral degrees to individuals who have made significantly contributions to the nation and society. The recipients of the Honorary Doctorates for the 2023 academic year are:

  2. Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Management Technology
    - Emeritus Professor Dr. Thares Srisatit
  3. Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Thai
    - Assistant Professor Dr. Prapote Assawavirunhakarn
  1. Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Creative Architecture (Interdisciplinary curriculum)
    - Professor Special Dr. Anek Laothamatas

In addition, the Outstanding Teaching Award for 2024 was conferred upon Assistant Professor Dr. Wilaiphorn Wichayawat.

The Outstanding Researcher Awards for 2023 were presented to four recipients in different fields:

As of the academic year 2024, the University of Phayao has 21,578 students and 1,903 staff members. The university has made significant progress in various missions, including:

  • Human Capital Development: In 2024 5,964 new students enrolled, and 3,810 students graduated in 2023.

Notably, UNESCO has recognized Phayao as a Learning City.
  • Social Well-Being and Institutional Development: The university has consistently been ranked globally and has maintained its position as Thailand's top-ranked university for student loan repayment rates for three consecutive years.

In the academic year 2023, a total of 3,810 degrees were awarded at the doctoral, master's, and bachelor's levels, including dual-degree programs. The University of Phayao's 2023 graduation ceremonies will take place from February 23rd to 25th, 2025, at the Phaya Ngam Muang Auditorium, located at the University of Phayao in Phayao Province.
