SCB teams up with Mastercard and Soft Space to launch 'Effortless Payment Processing' campaign to provide Android devices to eligible merchants, enabling them to accept contactless payments using the "SCB Tap-To-Pay" service
A leader in digital banking, Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) is the first bank to capitalise on a joint initiative by Mastercard, a global technology company in the payments industry, and Soft Space, the world's leading SoftPOS provider, to accelerate the adoption of the SoftPOS (Software Point-of-Sale) solution across the Asia-Pacific region. SoftPOS allows merchants to accept contactless payments from customers via NFC-enabled mobile devices instead of traditional POS systems.
Empowered by the initiative, the bank is launching the "Effortless Payment Processing" promotional campaign targeted at merchants accepting contactless payments through SCB's SoftPOS solution, 'SCB Tap-To-Pay' service on the Mae Manee app. With 'SCB Tap-To-Pay', SCB is the first bank in Thailand to bring SoftPOS to merchants. Per its role in its partnership with Mastercard, Soft Space will supply SCB with 500 Android devices valued at more than 3.25 million baht, with the Mae Manee app installed so that merchants can start accepting contactless payments made with domestic and international Mastercard and Visa credit and debit cards, as well as devices with integrated wallets like Google Pay, Garmin, and Fitbit smartwatches, and QR payments via PromptPay. Soft Space has entrusted Digio (Thailand), a local Payment Facilitator and technology provider, to deliver these devices to merchants with transactions totaling at least 25,000 baht from September 15 to October 31, 2024.
Ms. Pichaya Pejaranonda, SCB Senior Vice President in charge of Retail Solutions Management (2nd from Right), Mr. Piroon Rojanakamolsan, Vice President, Account Management, Thailand, Mastercard (2nd from Left), Mr. Joel Tay, Chief Executive Officer, Soft Space Sdn. Bhd. (Right) and Mr. Nopphorn Danchainam, Founder and Managing Director, Digio (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Left) recently participated in the launch ceremony for the promotion campaign.
