The Society for Clinical Data Management: Looking Back on 2014, Forward to 2015

          SCDM celebrated its 20th Anniversary in style at the 2014 Annual Conference in Las Vegas, surrounded by 700 friends and supporters coming from all over the world and representing the industry. 280 companies were present at the Conference and the post-event evaluations confirmed that it has been an inspiring educational and personal experience for everyone attending.

          The CDM Leadership Forum in Leiden, the Netherlands - the first European event organized by SCDM since its creation - brought together some of the most experienced representatives of the industry and EMA regulators around the main burning topics of the industry.

          Additionally, 2014 saw the release of the very first SCDM white paper on eSource Implementation in Clinical Research: A Data Management Perspective, presenting useful data collection modalities of eSource and relevant considerations for successful implementation. The white paper - cited by the FDA - not only received input from the CFDA, but it was also prepared by some of the most insightful CDM leaders worldwide.

          Focused activities and aggressive expense monitoring measures enabled SCDM to have a fruitful year both in initiatives and in financial terms. Therefore, the Society is all the more encouraged to keep investing in activities that will serve its mission of advancing the clinical data management profession internationally.

          While identifying the best opportunities, both in Asia and Europe, SCDM intends to pursue a global expansion, ultimately contributing to the main objective: consolidating its global footprint and advancing the profession in all regions of the world.

          This includes local events throughout the year and other educational programs that address the most crucial challenges faced by clinical data management professionals globally.

          The 2015 SCDM Annual Conference will be taking place in Washington, D.C., from 20-23rd September.
