Air Cargo World Celebrates 70th Anniversary!

Air Cargo World(ACW), the premiere source for airfreight logistics news and analysis, has been celebrating its 70th anniversary this year with a look into its storied past. In February, ACW printed a 1949 report by former Managing Editor Dick Malkin sent from the frontlines of the Berlin airlift and posted his entire six-part series on the airlift at www.aircargoworld.com/airlift. The June issue of the magazine will feature a number of historical features, predictions for the future of air cargo and an in-depth interview with Malkin, the magazine's first editor.

Since its inception as a magazine in 1942, ACW has been at the forefront of the industry with insightful feature stories and breaking news articles. The monthly magazine remains a must-read publication for forwarders, shippers and everyone else involved in the exciting and fast-paced world of airfreight. Alan Wright, global cargo network development manager at Zurich-based Swissport Cargo Services, recently sent ACW an e-mail to share his thoughts about the importance of the magazine and where it fits in the industry. "I read the magazine because of the special features," he wrote. "These give greater insight into the issues rather than just 'news.' Perspectives from peers in the industry are more interesting than mere stories." Wright's sentiments were echoed from Istanbul by Sener Ozkan of Turkish Cargo, who said ACW is "essential to keeping an eye to the global developments. Furthermore, it is a medium of bringing together freight, logistics and overall supply chain professionals to share ideas and interests."

Fresh from the success of the Air Cargo Excellence awards that they hosted in Kuala Lumpur last month, the ACW team is looking forward to covering the ever-evolving airfreight market with renewed vigor and determination, even as they look back at the magazine's seven decades in the air cargo industry.
