Child pedestrian safety is once again in focus as FedEx Express gears up for its second year of promoting safety for kids walking on Bangkok roads. Nearly 100 participants took part at the FedEx and Safe Kids Thailand Walk This Way Safety Day at Kingpetch School, including government VIPS, teachers, students, parents and volunteers from FedEx.
The Safe Kids Walk This Way Program, jointly organized by FedEx and Safe Kids Thailand, aims to make communities around the country safer for children to navigate the streets, play and explore through youth-focused pedestrian safety programs. The program began in Thailand in 2011 and since then has engaged more than 1,000 participants.
“We are delighted to be continuing our support to help all children become more aware of the potential dangers on the roads, particularly as they make their way to and from school,” said David Carden, managing director, FedEx Express Thailand and Indochina. “I congratulate all those involved in the program, including FedEx volunteers, and thank them for their support. Walk This Way is a great example of how the community can pull together to educate its children, and it’s also a meaningful way for FedEx employees to make a contribution.to the community. ”
Through FedEx support, Safe Kids Thailand has conducted various educational and promotional activities to prevent unintentional injuries among children 14 years and under. The program delivers key benefits to communities including:
- Identifying risks in communities by supporting child safety research and environmental assessments
- Teaching safe behavior through school curricula, events and educational tools
- Creating infrastructure improvements to address the root cause of injuries and deaths – unsafe roadways.
