Increasing interest illustrates company’s successful strategy of providing an integrated portfolio of cloud technologies, solutions and services built on a single, underlying platform
Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), is seeing increased demand for, and adoption of its cloud offerings from businesses in Asia Pacific as the company continues to execute on its cloud development strategy. Cloud computing users and IT service providers in Asia Pacific are embracing Hitachi Data Systems solutions. The newly launched converged data center solutions combine and optimize enterprise class storage, Hitachi Compute Blade servers and industry standard network infrastructure components that will further support the rapid development of cloud in Asia Pacific.
Hitachi Data Systems solutions let customers deploy an integrated portfolio of cloud solutions and services. They simplify and accelerate cloud deployments to meet the needs of companies of all sizes. The single, underlying platform deployment approach also lets customers build and scale cloud solutions as quickly or as slowly as they want to — without the need to undo pre-existing IT systems, thus protecting their IT investments.
“Asia Pacific is a fast developing yet fragmented market. Enterprises across the region have very different requirements when they look for the latest cloud solutions because of local market conditions. The Hitachi Data Systems cloud approach is unique in allowing organizations in Asia Pacific to build, scale and deploy agile cloud services and solutions at their own pace to meet existing needs,” said Kevin Eggleston, senior vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific, Hitachi Data Systems. “If additional solutions are required to be installed down the line as the customer’s business evolves and grows, this can be accomplished affordably, quickly and seamlessly by adding single components as required — no more, no less.”
One of the key enablers of the Hitachi Data Systems cloud strategy is its integration of storage, server and data network components into a single, integrated cloud infrastructure foundation known as the infrastructure cloud. The company’s converged solution delivers significant advantages in the performance, deployment speed, reliability and management of these components and solves many of the concerns organizations have about the deployment of cloud solutions. Utilizing the Hitachi Data Systems cloud solutions, customers can realize potential decreases in operational expenditure, greater compatibility, higher ROI, shorter deployment cycles, all without having to re-architect their existing systems.
In recent months, Hitachi Data Systems has announced significant customer wins for its cloud solutions. Customers, which include Beijing Computing Center from China, Sify Technologies Limited from India, and Teliti International from Malaysia use Hitachi Data Systems cloud solutions in different ways to support the essential operational requirements of their activities:
- Beijing Computing Center selected Hitachi NAS Platform (HNAS) to improve the efficiency and performance for file and data sharing by eliminating system sprawl and traffic bottlenecks. With the virtualization functions of HNAS, such as virtual servers, virtual volumes and virtual storage pools, the center’s storage administrators can now effectively allocate storage capacity for different applications and users.
- Sify Technologies Limited, a leader in consumer Internet and enterprise services in India, launched an innovative on-demand storage service with a service level agreement-driven, on-demand storage service that offers a fully-managed, scalable storage platform powered by Hitachi Data Systems.
- Teliti Datacentres, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the premier IT services provider, Teliti International Limited, is constructing what will be one of the largest data centers in Asia, which will utilize a Hitachi infrastructure solution, Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) and HNAS. The state-of-the-art “green” facility, due to be opened in 2012, is located at the Enstek high-technology business park on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur and will offer a wide range of services, including managed services, to local and global customers. Teliti chose Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) because it provides significant benefits in performance, flexibility, power consumption and total cost of ownership (TCO). Teliti is also working with Hitachi to provide archive and backup as a service to its customers using HCP.
“To meet the continued growth of business and information technology in Beijing, our Beijing Industrial Cloud service platform needed to have a robust storage infrastructure that could provide unsurpassed reliability, performance and scalability,” said Wu Yilei, Researcher, Research and Development Department of Beijing Computing Center. “The Hitachi Data Systems storage solution demonstrates cutting-edge advantages in performance and reliability, empowering us to overcome our operational challenges in a hassle-free way."
“Hitachi Data Systems plays an integral role in enabling us to meet the ever-increasing demand for best-in-class storage solutions in a cloud environment, which will be offered by Teliti Datacentres,” said Musa Mohd Lazim, CEO, Teliti Datacentres Sdn. Bhd. “With the ongoing support of Hitachi Data Systems, Teliti is well-placed to become a leader in the IT sector not only in Malaysia but in overseas markets as we continue to expand our presence.”
“Sify has invested strategically in building the Enterprise Cloud platform over the last 16 months, to deliver the promise of cloud computing to the enterprise customers. Today, Sify's Cloud services are empowering organizations to respond more quickly to rapidly-changing business conditions, all while guaranteeing the availability, reliability, scalability and security of the workloads,” said C V S Suri, President and CEO, Sify Enterprise Services. “Our partnership with technology leaders like Hitachi Data Systems for storage has helped us build and offer uniquely differentiated, on-demand, and future ready storage solutions with 99.99% SLA guarantee”.
The main advantages and most common reasons why Asia Pacific customers choose the Hitachi Data Systems integrated cloud infrastructure approach include reduced cost of management, simplification of the IT environment, increased operational efficiency, modular and scalable cloud solutions deployment, the ability to populate the cloud from multiple sources within existing environments without disrupting or destroying existing applications and users, and the protection of pre-existing IT investments.
