Technicolor Ramps Up Digital Imaging Department in Bangkok

Bangkok--20 Mar--Scott Rosenberg

Technicolor today launched its new Digital Imaging department in Bangkok providing digital intermediate (DI), HD mastering and restoration services. US Ambassador to Thailand, Eric G. John, the Secretary General of the Thailand Board of Investment Dr. Atchaka Brimble representing the Thai Prime Minister's Office, along with Paul Stambaugh, managing director of Technicolor’s Bangkok facility, cut the ribbon today symbolically launching the department. The new state-of-the-art department compliments Technicolor's well known digital sound and traditional laboratory services in Bangkok. “With the launch of the new Digital Imaging department, we can more effectively serve a short or long form project from front-to-back under one roof — from the drop at the lab and the digital dailies, film scanning for the online conform and theater color grading to film record, answer and release printing,” said Paul Stambaugh. Mike Balabuch has joined the team as the manager of the new Digital Imaging department. Previously, Mike was based in New York and has worked on many Digital Intermediate projects, including The Devil Wears Prada and Prairie Home Companion. Also joining the digital imaging team in Bangkok is Steve Calalang, who takes on the position of Colorist. Steve has won praise from directors of photography (DoPs) for his work on well-known films such as Syriana, Freedomland, Hitch, The Forgotten and The Visiting. With the new Digital Imaging department, Technicolor will now deliver Digital Intermediate services to Asia along with a comprehensive range of creative options for post-production, regardless of the original medium capture - be it film, video or data. Using da Vinci RESOLVE theaters, IMAGICA scanner, SMOKE editing and CELCO film recording devices, Technicolor brings Asian filmmakers its branded international quality at value added costs.
