The 10th Asian Cartoon Exhibition -Asian Environmental Issues -

This year, the Japan Foundation Bangkok, the Thai Cartoonists Association and Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University proudly present the 10th Asian Cartoon Exhibition on the theme “Asian Environmental Issues”, featuring 77 new cartoons of leading cartoonists from 10 Asian nations, including Thailand and Japan. Each cartoon will present various perspectives of the cartoonists on the topic of environmental issues in each country. The Japan Foundation has been holding the Asian Cartoon Exhibition every year as a contribution to the greater understanding of Asian societies, cultures and people through the widely appreciated medium of cartoons. This year, the exhibition will be held in Nakhon Si Thammarat before moving to Bangkok as follows. Nakhon Si Thammarat Venue: City Learning Park Ratchadumnoen Road, Nakorn Si Thammarat 80000 Duration: Thursday 19 – Monday 30 July 2007 (Opening Ceremony on 19 July at 17:30) Opening Hours: Mon – Sun 10:00 – 19:00 Bangkok Venue: The Japan Foundation Art Space Serm-mit Tower 10 F, 159 Sukhumvit 21, Bangkok 10110 Duration: Wednesday 8 – Wednesday 22 August 2007 (Opening ceremony on 8 August at 18:00) Opening Hours: Mon – Fri 09:00 – 19:00 Sat 9:00 – 17:00 We would like to introduce Khun Thiwawat Pattaragulwanit, the Thai cartoonist whose works are shown in this exhibition. He is Editorial Cartoonist for the Thai-language daily business paper “Krungthep Thurakit” and English daily “Bangkok Post”. He won the ESCAP 50th Anniversary Cartoon Exhibition, Third Prize in 1997.
