Asia Netcom Teams up with Datacraft to Defend Enterprise Networks

BANGKOK--14 Dec--Xinhua-PRNewswire - AsiaNet/InfoQuest

Leading Pan-Asian Service Provider Partners with Regional IT Services and Solutions Company to Offer Managed Security Services

Asia Netcom and Datacraft today announced a partnership that will see them offer managed security services to enterprise customers. In its initial phase, the new partnership will jointly offer firewall monitoring and management with other value-added services, such as intrusion detection and prevention, being phased in later.

"We are pleased to partner with Datacraft. This is a timely solution designed for our enterprise customers," said Bill Barney, Asia Netcom's president and chief executive officer. "Network threats often originate beyond the local network environment, and we are well-positioned to defend enterprises from these threats. Both Asia Netcom and Datacraft are highly respected for

their innovation and customer focus, and this partnership pays tribute to those aspects."

According to the Global State of Information Security 2006*, a worldwide study by CIO magazine, CSO magazine and PricewaterhouseCoopers, organizations are increasingly integrating physical and information security as they become more aware of the impact of privacy breaches. The third annual survey shows a noticeable shift in priorities in 2006. IT executives this year list the top three priorities on their to-do list as technological fixes including data backup, network firewalls and application firewalls. This differs from 2005 when the number one priority was disaster recovery and business continuity, followed by employee awareness and training programs. Data backup was third on the list. The survey represents the responses of almost 7800 senior executives

at companies in more than 50 countries across all industries.

"We are delighted to work with Asia Netcom in addressing the pressing needs of enterprises across Asia Pacific", said Bill Padfield, CEO of Datacraft Asia. "Our extensive experience in providing security solutions and understanding of information security governance enable us to jointly deliver end-to-end managed services that can help clients minimise risk, maximise data

integrity and enable systems recovery -- 24 x 7 x 365."

By linking Datacraft's Global Services Centre (GSC) with Asia Netcom's Network Operations Centre, the companies are now positioned to provide a seamless service to the latter's customer base. Datacraft GSC will be responsible for round-the-clock monitoring of clients' firewalls infrastructure with in-country service teams providing 7x24 management of firewall rules.

"In a multifaceted IT environment, managing and maintaining a secure network may be complex, costly, and unwieldy for the enterprise," said Genius Wong, VP, Product and Service Engineering, Asia Netcom. "Outsourcing to service providers that have the expertise, capability and technology will lessen the impact to cost and complexity issues. Precious human resources could

then be redeployed where they could contribute more significantly to the enterprise's core business."

Since it launched in March 2003, Asia Netcom has leveraged its leadership in IP services by being the first regional carrier to market a native IP platform that powers a MPLS-based IP VPN offering with 5 Class-of-Service (CoS) options and usage-based billing. These features significantly enhance flexibility and cost efficiency for enterprises rolling out IP VPN-based WANs. The industry-leading IP VPN 5 CoS offering has been a key driver during the past year in the growth of the company's enterprise customer base, delivering a 65% year-over-year growth in IP VPN services.
