STAR ALLIANCE INTERLINE E-TICKET NOW AVAILABLE ACROSS CANADA AND THE USA

Bangkok--Oct 19--Star Alliance

Star Alliance, the airline network for Earth(tm), now offers customers flying across its North America network one single electronic ticket. The itinerary can include any combination of domestic and transborder flights operated by member carriers Air Canada, United and US Airways*. The three member carriers operate a total of 8,000 daily flights within North America serving some 323 destinations. "Many of our customers already appreciate the advantages of travelling on e-tickets. We are very pleased to extend this innovative product to multi-carrier itineraries in one of the world's most competitive aviation markets", said Lee Hock Lye, Vice President Products and Services, Star Alliance. On a global basis, Star Alliance is presently rolling out interline e-ticketing across the 16 carrier network spanning 790 destinations in 138 countries. A joint set of business rules and common message standards has been defined and testing between all carriers has been successfully completed. Since the end of August 2005 more than 70% of the necessary links have been put in place, allowing passengers travelling on the Star Alliance network to make use of more multi-carrier e-ticket combinations than on any other airline alliance. Additional itineraries will become e-ticket eligible by the end of the year. *Note: Even though America West has rebranded to US Airways, the operating certificate still remains as America West (HP) for the flights not offering Star Alliance benefits. About Star Alliance: Star Alliance was established in 1997 as the first truly global airline alliance to offer customers global reach and a smooth travel experience. Star Alliance has been voted Best Airline Alliance by Skytrax in 2003 and 2005. The members are Air Canada, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, bmi, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Spanair, TAP Portugal, THAI, United, US Airways and VARIG Brazilian Airlines. South African Airways and SWISS will be integrated during the first half 2006. Overall, the member carriers offer more than 15,000 daily flights to 790 destinations in 138 countries.
