Kao aims to push Thailand as a production center in Asia

- Invested 3.5 billion baht for new factory in Chonburi with latest technology - Expects to gain more than 200 percent sales increase in exporting business in 2010 Kao Industrial (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Kao Commercial (Thailand) Co., Ltd. recently arranged the grand opening ceremony of its new factory at Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate in Chonburi province. The new factory, with an investment of 3.5 billion baht, will be the company’s production base for all consumer and chemical products in Asia. The new plant is about 157,000 square meters, which is around 3 times?of the size of the existing plant. The capacity of the new plant will increase to 1.5times compared to the current figure. Kao’s new factory started its construction in December 2003. After 14 months of construction, in February 2005, the new factory has started the production after receiving an approval from Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT). Mr. Takuya Goto, Chairman of the Board, Kao Corporation Japan said, “We have invested 3.5 billion baht for this new factory which will generate good revenue catching up domestic demand and exporting business. For Kao, we plan to push Thailand as our production center for consumer and chemical products to export to all Asian countries, as we are confident that Thailand has a good potential.” The new factory will be full operation by the end of this year, we aim to gain more than 200 percent of sales increase in exporting business in 2010.” Mr. Goto added.
