TRuepoint Family Expands with PDH-Ethernet Radio for 3G
Wireless Access Networks
Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), a leading global supplier of wireless
systems and services, today introduces the TRuepoint(TM) 4000 at the 3GSM World
Congress 2005 in Cannes, France. The newest member of Harris' TRuepoint(TM)
family of microwave digital radios, TRuepoint 4000 delivers reliable, flexible,
cellular backhaul, giving mobile operators a cost-efficient option for both
voice and data applications from a single platform that can scale and adapt to
meet changing market needs.
"Harris developed TRuepoint 4000 in nine months. We recognized that the
worldwide move to 3G wireless access would require new backhaul technology
capable of supporting Ethernet applications and services with greater
bandwidth," said Guy Campbell, president of Harris Microwave Communications
Division. "The TRuepoint 4000 provides mobile operators with a PDH solution
that simplifies network planning and is easy to provision and manage."
TRuepoint 4000 meets the accelerating global demand for next-generation
services with a strong set of advanced features in a streamlined radio targeted
to the PDH-IP market. Features such as mixed voice/data interface,
software-based frequency shifts, flexible modulation options, and scalable
capacity make TRuepoint 4000 the ideal choice for rapidly changing network
environments. TRuepoint 4000 is fully compatible with industry standards and
has been certified R&TTE compliant.
"Today's mobile operators require more than just performance. They need a flexible platform that can be deployed cost-effectively within a broad variety
of applications," said Asif Rahman, vice president, Product Management for
Harris Microwave Communications Division. "The TRuepoint 4000 meets this need
through its ability to deliver multiple levels of bandwidth and a wide range of
network interfaces at many different frequencies."
TRuepoint 4000 is optimised for efficient, flexible PDH-IP operation in
next-generation wireless networks. It supports all major CEPT frequency bands
from 7 to 38 GHz and up to 16xE1 telephony and 2x100 Base-T data interfaces.
Using Harris' breakthrough, high-performance technology, it supports QPSK and
16 QAM modulation over a wide range of channel bandwidths that are software
selectable from 3.5 to 28 MHz.
Fully compatible with both industry-standard network management systems and the Harris NetBoss(R) management platform, TRuepoint microwave radios fit
seamlessly into any existing wireless network. With its compact split-mount
design and low-power consumption, the TRuepoint 4000 provides mobile operators
with a solution that is easy to deploy and maintain, so operational costs are
kept low. With global reach and unmatched depth of experience in microwave,
Harris offers mobile operators complete solutions, with services ranging from
planning, design and systems integration to deployment, management, training
and customer service.
