OTTAWA: The Canadian Minister for Finance and Chair of the G-7 Finance Ministers Meeting John Manley today revealed plans to provide funding for aid and essential services in Brazil, according to a media statement. "We welcome the agreement on a framework reached yesterday by the Government of Brazil and the IMF for a new Fund program, supported by sound macroeconomic policies and institutional arrangements in Brazil, which should help restore market confidence and lay the basis for strong economic growth," he said.

HONG KONG: China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and Guangdong LNG have contracted Aussie gas suppliers Australian LNG Partners to deliver three million tons of LNG to Guangdong LNG every year for the next 25 years and have also entered into negotiations with BP to build China's second LNG terminal in Fujian, to be funded by CNOOC and partners, a company report revealed. "The start up of two LNG terminals, not just one as expected, is great news for China's gas market development as reliable supplies of clean fuels will help boost coastal economies," said CEO of CNOOC Wei Liucheng.
