The Tolly Group, a worldwide leader in assessing leading edge technologies, recently completed two batteries of compression tests which clearly demonstrated that Nortel Network’s Routers offer the best WAN routing performance in the networking business.
WAN bandwidth is an expensive resource and sending as much data as possible through the WAN link is a smart way to keep costs in check as data usage increases.
The Tolly Group evaluated the WAN routing throughput with compression of Nortel's BCN against Cisco System's 7513 and found that Nortel's BCN: - Delivers 13% to 26% higher throughput than the Cisco 7513 - Provides the equivalent of four T1s of bandwidth over a pair of T1s - Provides the equivalent of 17 T1s of bandwidth across only eight T1 lines
Moreover, in a second round of testing, the Tolly Group compared the WAN routing throughput of the BCN backbone router and ARN edge router against Cisco's 7513 backbone and 2611 edge routers. The results prove that using Nortel routers with compression at the remote office and campus sites delivers even more bandwidth for your money.
