Bangkok--Dec 21--Business Day
Joining hands with Singapore Press Holdings, one of Asia's largest and most respected publishing companies, Business Day on Monday launched the Thailand Export 2000 E-Commerce Service using the enormously popular AsiaOne website.
Thailand Export 2000 provides advertising and public relations services for Thai exporters through electronic and print media. An automatic payment collection system for credit card charges through the Internet is included.
Mr. Chatchai Yenbamroong, Business Day Managing Director, said Thailand Export 2000 enables Thai exporters to provide information on products and services, reaching customers throughout the world promptly and efficiently.
The service is exceptionally economical and effective because it uses the AsisOne website, which is accessed by users over 100 million times a month.
Mr. Chatchai said Thai Export 2000 aims to serve 5,000 Thai exporters with combined export activities worth over $10 billion a year.
In addition, Business Day will publish in 1999 the Thailand Export 2000 Directory containing essential information on products and services of exporters. The directory will be distributed to over 60,000 importers of Thai products in 60 countries as well as trade offices abroad, Mr. Chatchai said.
Furthermore, Business Day is inviting retail merchants to sell products through AsiaOne Commerce. Products such as musical CDs, gifts and souvenirs have been highly popular when offered through e-commerce.
The AsiaOne Commerce website is currently accessed about a million times a month.
Business Day and AsiaOne offer e-commerce services at no charge except for revenue sharing of 20% based on sales.
Mr. Chatchai said Thailand Export 2000 has set a target of no less than 2,000 participating exporters, adding that the Department of Export Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce is cooperating with Business Day in furnishing data and information.
As for retail sales through e-commerce, the target is to have at least 10 Thai merchants in the first year, during which primary emphasis would be placed on promoting e-commerce, Mr. Chatchai said. End.
