Bangkok--Feb 23--Sun Microsystems
Sun Microsystems, in conjunction with its distributors; Logic Co.Ltd, Open Computing Technologies Ltd., MFEC Co.,Ltd., and business partners; Asia Manufacturing Online Pte Ltd (AMO), Broadvision, Intershop Communications, Interwoven Inc., Netscape Communications Asia South Pte Ltd, Oracle Corporation Asia/Pacific Division, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Security Dynamics and Silk Route Ventures Private Limited, will showcase the latest E-commerce solutions today.
Singapore is the first stop of the roadshow which will travel to Kuala Lumpur (February 8), Bangkok ( February 10) and New Delhi (February 12).
How to implement E-Commerce successfully has been a major concern for the business community as the growth of electronic commerce has been dramatic. The forecast for electronic commerce transactions by the year 2002 is $349 billion, with business-to-business exchanges accounting for the majority of the transactions (Forrester 1998).
The sales of ISPs (Internet Service Providers) outside Japan was almost US$1billion in 1998, and this was forcasted to grow by 61% annually (Lehman Bros). Subscriber growth is also the fastest in the world at 39% a year.
The event promises to fulfill the needs and answer the difficulties faced by the business community and developers with different tracks focussing on different topics and has attracted much interest in the countries where the event is travelling to.
"Sun is a pioneer of the internet and the leader in the Electronic Commerce arena, it is imperative that we take the lead in showcasing actual applications, solutions andcase studies on the realities of how to implement E-Commerce with real examples." said Mr Gary Koh, Director, Electronic Commerce, Asia South, Sun Microsystems.
Mr Koh added that Electronic Commerce must not be viewd as a mere buzzword as a forecast by Datamonitor 1997 has predicted that by the year 2002, 630,000 US companies and 245,000 European companies will be invloved in full- fledged integrated business-to-business electronic commerce.
He further added that Sun's experience has also shown that ECommerce in Asia South is different from that implemented in the US and in Europe. The roadshow focusses on the companies that have already implemented successfully in Asia. This is what our customers appreciate - that Sun, and its partners, know what is relevant in Asia for the Asian environment.
