The Smart HVAC Solution Achieves 15.5% Energy Reduction in Three Months

LG Joins Hands with KMITL School of Architecture, demonstrating Multi V i's Energy-Saving Performance

LG Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a global leader in HVAC innovation, continues its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Thai people through innovation under the 'Life's Good' philosophy. The company has partnered with the School of Architecture, Art and Design at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) to install in the learning facility its Multi V i commercial air conditioning system which features advanced AI innovation. This installation aims to demonstrate the system's efficiency in delivering optimal comfort while maximizing energy savings. Results show the system achieved an impressive 15.5% reduction in energy consumption within just three months.

The installation of Multi V i commercial air conditioning system at the School of Architecture, Art and Design serves as an ideal case study for HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) technology testing. As an educational institution, the facility presents a dynamic learning environment with constant flow of students and staff engaging in various activities, resulting in different cooling requirements across different areas. While conventional air conditioning technology may not effectively address these varying needs and can lead to energy waste, LG has developed advanced AI features in Multi V i to provide precise solutions. The system learns from the environment and user behavior patterns to calculate optimal cooling levels for each area without unnecessary energy consumption.

Mr. Amnaj Singhachan, Head of Marketing at LG Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, "LG is committed to deliver innovation for a better life, including energy efficiency management which has undeniably become a crucial part of everyday life. Given that HVAC system costs typically account for up to 40% of a building's total energy expenses, we are delighted to collaborate with King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang in implementing the Multi V i commercial air conditioning system, which integrates intelligent AI innovations. This marks a new milestone in delivering maximum comfort alongside energy efficiency, truly reinforcing LG's position as a superior leader in air conditioning technology."

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prapatpong Upala, School of Architecture, Art and Design at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang shared his impressions of Multi V i's intelligent technology, "Our institute's vision focuses on development through science and technology, research, and innovation for global community, which aligns perfectly with LG's innovation philosophy for a better life. As we already have been continuously collaborating with LG on energy-saving and clean air technology research, this partnership extends our study into how intelligent technology can enhance building energy efficiency. Since the project began, we have witnessed clear improvements in HVAC operation analysis and management through AI integration. After three months of installation, we observed a significant 15.5% reduction in the building's energy consumption, which shows a promising trend."

The intelligent Multi V i commercial air conditioning system delivers optimal indoor comfort while maximizing energy savings through the integration of three key AI innovations. AI Smart Care boasts self-learning algorithm that study usage patterns and adjust temperatures appropriately in each area to maximize energy efficiency. AI Indoor Space Care detects and groups air conditioning units in the same area, allowing automatic group operation with just one unit's on/off command. AI Energy Management enables users to set monthly energy consumption targets for tighter control of energy consumption. The effectiveness of these innovative AI features can be demonstrated through the installation of Multi V i at LG's office, where it achieved even greater energy savings of up to 22.3% over a 10-month period.
