The smart printers and various printing solutions are to serve customers' demand in all printing jobs. The company expects to invest more in Thailand, the biggest market in Southeast Asia, as growths are seen in all segments.
Lois Lebegue, Eastman Kodak Company's managing director for Asia-Pacific region, gave an interview at the Kodak Drupa 2012 jointly held by Kodak and its dealers, saying he believed to see growth in Kodak's business in Asia-Pacific region. “Kodak's business in Asia-Pacific resumes as usual and Kodak is still strong in Asia. It is ready to move on in two core businesses with bright future and they are for consumers, commercial organizations,” said Mr. Lebegue.
Kodak's core businesses consist of consumer products and products for commercial organizations with massive market value. Each segment has two-digit growth. They are packaging, newspaper, publishing, digital printing system, corporate and offset prepress printing system, and last but not least image printing for retail shops and professionals. Kodak is ready to serve all these segments with its strong points such as production base and resources. In Asia, Kodak has six plants and employs more than 4,000 staff members throughout Asia. Kodak owns three research centers which its 500 research and development staff are ready to introduce new products to the market. This is not to mention Kodak partners' service channels throughout Asia.
In the past 7-8 years, Kodak has aggressively moved in printing market. As a result, product growth can be seen and continual profitability is also possible. Growths can be seen in the following segments:
* Packaging (100% growth per year in Asia)
* Newspaper ( 12% growth per year in Asia)

* Digital Printing Solutions (40% growth)
* Prepress Solutions (10% up growth)
* Organizations (document scanners with more than 10% growth in Asia)

Mr. Lebegue added that Thailand was a big market and the most potential one in Southeast Asia region. Growths could be seen in all segments due to strong staff, sales and service teams. Kodak therefore plans to focus on business investment in Thailand more. It is determined to continually provide customers with products and after-sales service to boost customers' confidence as it used to.
