Fast Retailing to Donate Clothing to Support Flood Relief Efforts in Thailand

Bangkok--4 Nov--UNIQLO

The Fast Retailing Group – the holding company of UNIQLO CO., LTD. will donate approximately 20 thousand articles of UNIQLO clothing, valued at around 30 million yen, to assist people in Thailand who have been seriously affected by the massive floods that recently swept through parts of the country. The donation will be distributed through The Chaipattana Foundation, which was established by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. The donation of UNIQLO apparel includes T-shirts, shirts, shorts and undergarments. In addition, UNIQLO (Thailand) Company Limited will also be donating 2 million Thai baht (approximately 5 million yen). The clothing will be sent to Thailand from Japan with the cooperation of the Japan Relief Clothing Center (JRCC) in mid-November when local relief teams will be ready to receive it. Once the items arrive in Thailand, they will be distributed by the Chaipattana Foundation mainly to people in rural areas and those who have been affected by the recent flooding. Commenting on today’s announcement, Takahiro Nishimura, Chief Operating Officer of UNIQLO (Thailand) CO., LTD., said, “First of all, UNIQLO would like to express our deep sympathy to the Thai people. We are sending our heart-felt support to you with the hope that you will recover from this unfortunate event as soon as possible. Fast Retailing hopes that its donation of clothing will help provide relief support to as many people in Thailand as possible.
