Japan’s number one apparel brand – announced its business plan for entering Thailand in fall 2011 with the launch of 3 stores in various shopping complexes; the first store will open in September in CentralWorld, followed by the second store opening in Central Plaza Ladprao, and the third in Central Plaza Rama 9.
Mr. Naoki Otoma, Managing Director of UNIQLO Asia and Japan, and Executive Vice President of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. stated, “UNIQLO is honored to launch three stores in the center of Bangkok this Fall. Opening 3 stores in one country in one season is new for UNIQLO, and this is unquestionably a very challenging undertaking. However, this demanding endeavor proves conclusively our strong commitment in Thailand.“
Fast Retailing has established the goal of becoming the largest apparel retailing group in the world in 2020, with target sales of 5 trillion yen. The company’s strategy is to become the number one brand throughout Asia. As part of UNIQLO’s expansion strategy, the company aims to open 200 stores in Asia every year, with a major focus on China, South Korea, and South East Asia.
“UNIQLO positions Thailand as a strategic market with significant business potential, as its Fashion and Textile market value has reached 860 Billion yen (over 3 trillion baht). The Thai market is mature, supporting many existing brands from local players, as well as highly fashion-conscious global labels," Mr. Otoma continued.

In conjunction with the store openings, UNIQLO will launch its marketing campaign under the concept “From Tokyo to Bangkok.” The aim of this campaign is to engage customers through creative advertising in new media and social networking, as well to debut the People Campaign, a launch campaign that has proven successful in other markets. The People Campaign is an important aspect of “Made For All” philosophy communication by presenting notable names in various professions in Thai society as the faces of UNIQLO’s People Campaign.
