Gossip Gallery @Silom Galleria Exposes ‘The Human Soul’

Bangkok--28 Aug--Gossip Gallery

Gossip Gallery @Silom Galleria Exposes ‘The Human Soul’ A contemporary art exhibition by Meng Yan & Dominic Rouse Picasso once said . . . ‘computers are useless, because they can only give you answers.’ The works of these two artists will pose far more questions than answers. They will provide an insight into ‘The Human Soul’. Gossip Gallery @Silom Galleria is hosting the exhibition of ‘The Human Soul’, a contemporary art exhibition by two of the most notable and controversial artists of the 21st Century: Meng Yan and Dominic Rouse. One is an eccentric painter from Shanghai. The other is a controversial photographer from England. Although these two men come from different backgrounds and use different techniques to create their masterpieces, they both embrace a common theme of illustrating ‘The Human Soul’. The exhibition will be open to the public from Sept. 2nd to 30th, 2009 on the Silom Galleria’s 3rd floor. Meng Yan, one of the most unconventional Chinese painters of the 21st Century, uses his paint brushes and oil techniques to demonstrate his concepts of ‘The Human Soul’. This collection is a continuation of his last series of works, ‘Desires’, in which he concentrates on the beautiful side of human beings. To create unexpected visual effects and to elevate his selected theme to a new level, Meng Yan uses his own unique, original and truly remarkable painting techniques to project beauty as mystical but desirable. ‘The Human Soul’ by Meng Yan consists of 10 oil paintings. For most photographers, cameras are used to record the world around them, but Dominic Rouse uses a camera to create a world. Starting at the age of 16 as a photojournalist, he gravitated towards commercial photography. Dominic eventually became known as a contemporary digital photographer in England, further evolving into the realm of fine art by using a combination of traditional and digital processes. His approach to photography consists of creating monochrome compositions that deconstruct and then reconstruct the human form, posing many questions along the way. Some art lovers view his prints as controversial; others deny that his prints are photography and elevate them to works of art. However, most observers of Dominic’s work agree that the 12 original black and white prints depict the world as uniquely seen by the artist’s mind. The work of Meng Yan and Dominic Rouse has been exhibited to rave claims in many major cities around the world. Art collectors engage in heated battle to acquire each piece of art as it becomes available. ‘The Human Soul’ by Meng Yan and Dominic Rouse will be open for free public viewing at Gossip Gallery (BTS: Surasak Station) starting from Sept. 2 until 30, 2009.
