Gossip Gallery on 3rd @Silom Galleria
presents Thavorn Phansa’s ‘Sudden Imagination’
The latest contemporary work of art
From now until March 15, 2009
For many of us, the first impression is always the most enduring. For Thavorn Phansa, his first impression of the objects he paints determines just how he will portray them. Whether the object is a plant, an animal or even a man-made object his first impression is what he paints; ‘Sudden Imagination’ is a prime example of this concept. According to Thavorn, also known as “Nai” to his family and friends, such an artwork created without bias is ‘pure art’.
Commenting on what inspires him, Thavorn states that ‘I don’t like to plan my work. When I look at an object I like, I don’t waste time trying to sketch or study it for a couple of days before starting to paint it. I use my first impression to guide me and I begin the painting without further thought. To me, this approach makes the work more genuine. The outcome often surprises both the artist and the viewers, transcending imagination with a myriad of messages.’ This result is reflected in each of the 20 acrylic paintings in his collection.
Khun Ticha Chotchung, the managing director of Gossip Gallery, says that ‘I was truly astonished and amazed when I saw his latest collection for the first time. If a picture typically paints a thousand words, Tavorn’s latest works could certainly tell a whole story. If you’re looking for a conversational work of art to display in your home or office, this remarkable collection truly will serve your purpose well. We, at Gossip Gallery, are honored that he has also chosen our new home to debut his collection.’
‘Sudden Imagination’, the solo exhibition by Thavorn Phansa, will be available for public viewing through March 15 at the gallery’s new location on the 3rd floor of Silom Galleria, Silom Road, opposite Central Department Store Silom (BTS Station: Surasak)
