Pattana Medical Center Clinic’s “Home Temple School” project offers brighter outlook for underprivileged osteoporosis patients

To commemorate the 82nd birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the 77th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, Pattana Medical Center Clinic and MSD Thailand have partnered to conduct the “Home Temple School” (Baworn) project to help underprivileged patients tackle osteoporosis. The objective of the program is to educate and provide proper diagnosis and treatment to 80 osteoporosis patients from Plabpla community who registered under care of doctors in this Medical Center. Luephorn Punnakanta M.D., Director of Pattana Medical Center Clinic said “This program has provided significant medical help and support to 77 osteoporosis patients from 8 communities in the local community who are registered at the clinic. Through this program, patients received the latest, most comprehensive osteoporosis treatment available in Thailand. The program included hi-tech bone analysis and world class consultation and medicinal treatment. Patients enrolled in the program also received comprehensive education about how to lower the risk from osteoporosis. With osteoporosis, emphasis on prevention through appropriate diet and exercise is very important. If osteoporosis patients suffer bone fractures the cost is very high financially and also in terms of the pain and loss of mobility experienced by the patient.” Dr. Suthipong Treeratana, Key Account Director of MSD Thailand said “MSD is committed to putting patients first in all its activities and we are honored to work with Pattana Medical Center Clinic through this program which we believe will provide a lasting legacy and better quality of life to the patients associated with the clinic.” About Pattana Medical Center Clinic The Pattana Medical Clinic was established by support from His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
