FORD AFFIRMS RANGER IS OF WORLD-CLASS QUALITY

Bangkok--Jan 6--Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide

Ford Thailand and AutoAlliance Thailand are committed to customer satisfaction through the delivery of the highest quality products and customer service. The Ford Ranger is a world-class vehicle that has been consistently recognized for its outstanding quality by numerous independent quality awards worldwide. Ford views the complaint by Khun Chalongchai regarding his Ranger vehicle very seriously. In response to the alleged claims made by Khun Chalongchai as reported in the newspapers, Ford would like to clarify the essential facts relating to this specific case, in order to put an immediate stop to any unnecessary and misleading concerns this could cause to our many satisfied customers. - Ford considers the safety and peace-of-mind of our customers a priority and our products are engineered and designed to meet all applicable safety standards. Ford undertakes a thorough investigation into each customer complaint received to ensure the safety of our products and our valued customers. - Ford had responded to the first complaint raised by Khun Chalongchai with a thorough investigation and had jointly worked with the Consumer Protection Board to offer several solutions to address his complaint. - Ford had ascertained that Khun Chalongchai's vehicle is a high-mileage unit with more than 150,000 kilometres well beyond its warranty period with no record of scheduled maintenance or history of quality issues. His demand for a vehicle replacement is viewed to be unreasonable. - Ford reaffirms that all the parts and components used in our products have been tested and meet our stringent quality and durability standards. The transmission system used is engineered for WLT turbo diesel engines common to both the 2WD and 4WD models. - The production serial number quoted in news reports is incorrect and bears no direct relevance to the transmission issue. - Ford has identified two possible factors that could result in the vehicle transmission issue i.e. shifting to 4X4 application while the vehicle is in motion or improper transmission lubrication maintenance. - Pending further discussions today, Ford and Khun Chalongchai had been able to arrive at a mutually agreeable resolution in line with the initial proposal made in conjunction with the Consumer Protection Board. Ford reaffirms our commitment to customer satisfaction and the Ford Ranger as a world-class quality vehicle.
