The Whiffenpoofs Are Back! 8 & 9 July, Rattanakosin Lounge, Siam City Hotel

Bangkok--Jun 13--PG International / PG Music Books As part of their annual World Tour, the world?s oldest and most famous acapella singing group, ?The Whiffenpoofs?, are back for what is expected to be yet another sell-out concert at Siam City Hotel. Concert dates are set for Tuesday and Wednesday, July 8th and 9th at the Hotel?s Rattanakosin Lounge, starting at 8:30 p.m. This famous acapella group of young and exuberant men from America?s prestigious Ivy League (and Harvard rival), Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, carry on the tradition set back almost a century ago in 1909 by entertaining all over the world. They have wooed audiences with their beautiful harmonies across the globe >from New York to Hong Kong, the Yankee Stadium to the Champs-Elysees and have performed before dignitaries and famous names including Presidents Clinton and Bush, the Dalai Lama, Mother Theresa and the King of Nepal. They have sung at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the World Series, and have also appeared on both Saturday Night Live and The Today Show. The Whiffenpoofs are associated with some of the most important figures in American history, including Cole Porter - Yale class of 1913 and Ella Fitzgerald - made an Honorary Member in 1979. Audiences will be treated not just with perfect harmonies but a unique brand of humour and showmanship. Their repertoire reflects a long tradition of drawing on original arrangements from many different styles and eras, ranging from classic Jazz and Broadway, to English folk songs, to Motown hits of the 60s and the latest Pop. Audiences will be treated to such favourites as ?Bye Bye Blackbird?, Midnight Train to Georgia?, ?The Girl from Ipanema? and ?Time after Time? as well as their most famous song ?The Whiffenpoof Song? which has been recorded by such greats as Rudy Vallee, Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley and Louis Armstrong. Siam City Hotel has been honored to host to this group of performers for the past nine years and each time they return audiences are mesmerized by the beautiful voices of these young men.
